Lucknow: Hazaratganj Police have arrested a man who had been evading appearance before the court for a prolonged period in connection with a 2019 case registered under charges including kidnapping and provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The accused, Mohd Farid, son of Mohd Sagir, was arrested on September 2 in compliance with a non-bailable warrant (NBW) issued by the Court of Judicial Magistrate First, Lucknow.
According to police, the NBW was issued on May 8, 2026, in Case No. 435/2019 concerning FIR No. 116/2019 registered at Hazaratganj Police Station under Sections 363 and 366 of the Indian Penal Code and Sections 7/8 of the POCSO Act.
Police Traced Accused to Gonda
Following the issuance of the warrant, Hazaratganj Police had been conducting searches and gathering information to locate the accused.
Police said Farid’s original address was Bansa Sharif in Masauli, Barabanki, but investigators subsequently learned that he was residing at Jigarganj locality under Kotwali Nagar police station in Gonda district.
On September 2, Sub-Inspector Abhishek Kumar Pathak, accompanied by a police team, left the station to trace and arrest the NBW warrant accused.
Acting on information gathered during the investigation, the team reached his current address in Jigarganj, Gonda. Farid was found outside the house during the police operation.
The officers informed him about the non-bailable warrant issued by the court and subsequently arrested him at around 8.30 pm on September 2, following the prescribed legal procedure.
To Be Produced Before Court
Police said necessary legal proceedings are being initiated against the accused and he will be produced before the competent court.
The police are also verifying Farid’s criminal history with other police stations, units and districts to determine whether he has been involved in any other cases.
The case relates to FIR No. 116/2019, registered at Hazaratganj Police Station, Lucknow Commissionerate, under Sections 363 and 366 of the IPC and Sections 7/8 of the POCSO Act.
The arrest was carried out by a team comprising Sub-Inspector Abhishek Kumar Pathak and Constable Amjad Khan of Hazaratganj Police Station, Lucknow Commissionerate.
