Lucknow: Hussainganj Police have arrested a 32-year-old man in connection with a case involving the alleged abduction of a 17-year-old girl and providing assistance to those accused of taking her away.
According to police, a complaint was lodged by the girl’s family alleging that the accused persons acted together to lure the minor away and that threats were also issued. Following the complaint, Hussainganj Police registered FIR No. 0147/2026 under Sections 87, 137(2), 61(2), 351(2) and 142 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with Sections 16 and 17 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Acting on information received from a local source, a Hussainganj Police team arrested Ankush Bharti, son of the late Pappu Bharti, near Bal Vidya Mandir School in the Charbagh area on September 29.
Police said Bharti is a resident of Chhitwapur, Raghuvar Das Ka Hata, under Hussainganj police station. He is being produced before the competent court, while further legal proceedings are underway.
Police also stated that a juvenile allegedly connected with the case had previously been taken into protective custody.
Previous Criminal Cases
According to the police, Bharti has previously been named in two cases registered at Naka Hindola police station. These include a 2021 case involving charges under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the SC/ST Act, and a 2025 case registered under provisions of the BNS.
His name has also been included in the current 2026 Hussainganj case. Police said information regarding any additional criminal history is being sought from other police stations and districts.

The arrest was carried out by a team comprising Hussainganj Station House Officer Shivmangal Singh, Sub-Inspector Gaurav Singh and Constable Saroj Kumar.
Police said further investigation and legal action in the case are in progress.
