Governor Anandiben Patel Distributes Welfare Benefits to Beneficiaries in Mirzapur

Mirzapur: Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel presided over a grand public welfare programme at Panchsheel Mahavidyalaya in Mavai Kala village of Mirzapur district. During the event, she distributed approval letters, commendation certificates, sanitation facility keys, residential and agricultural land lease documents, house keys under the Pradhan Mantri and Mukhyamantri Awas Yojana, educational kits for Anganwadi centres, tricycles for differently-abled persons, and revolving fund demo cheques to NRLM women’s groups. Additionally, nutrition kits for TB patients and other department-specific benefits were handed over to respective beneficiaries.

Addressing the gathering, Governor Patel highlighted that the primary aim of welfare schemes is to integrate the marginalized sections into the mainstream, ensuring equal opportunities for all. She urged officials to provide financial management training under the Bank Sakhi scheme to NRLM group women and emphasized prudent use of their earnings. “Women should be vigilant in utilizing their income wisely,” she said, instructing the District Magistrate to facilitate exposure visits and replicate successful training models from Varanasi in Mirzapur.

She praised the role of NRLM in empowering rural women, many of whom had never stepped outside their homes, but are now self-reliant. She also called upon intellectuals to actively support women’s empowerment efforts.

The Governor laid special emphasis on the Mission Indradhanush vaccination drive, urging all to ensure immunization of newborns to protect them from diseases. “Strict action should be taken against those who oppose or neglect vaccination,” she warned. Anganwadi workers and CDPOs were directed to ensure the effective use of pre-school educational kits distributed to 200 centres across Mirzapur, with a three-day training programme to guide their use.

She urged beneficiaries to utilize government-provided resources—homes, kits, land—responsibly and in line with the intended purpose. Referring to PM and CM housing schemes, she noted their transformative impact: “Poor villagers, who could never afford a home despite a lifetime of labor, now own permanent houses thanks to these schemes.”

The Governor stressed the importance of eradicating Tuberculosis by 2025, in line with the Prime Minister’s vision, directing health officials to identify, treat, and monitor TB patients, ensuring regular intake of medication and nutrition kits.

Commending the efforts of Green Army women volunteers, Governor Patel acknowledged their commendable work in addressing social evils like substance abuse, child marriage, domestic violence, and dowry in rural and tribal areas. She called for police cooperation with Green Army members to tackle these issues effectively. “Establish coordination with local police stations to curb social evils and improve lives,” she advised.

She advocated for universal access to education, urging villagers to send their children to school regardless of their socio-economic background, emphasizing that education is key to mainstream inclusion and employment opportunities. “Green Army members should ensure children attend school regularly and encourage parents to value education,” she added.

The Governor called for eliminating social discrimination and casteism, highlighting the Prayagraj Mahakumbh as a symbol of social harmony, where people from all communities bathe together in the Ganga, showcasing unity.
