Gonda: Gonda District Magistrate Priyanka Niranjan has warned officials that negligence in the implementation of urban development schemes will not be tolerated, stressing the need for quality, transparency and regular monitoring of projects.
The directions were issued during a review meeting held at the Collectorate auditorium on Tuesday to assess the progress of development schemes being implemented by local urban bodies across the district.
The meeting reviewed the progress of several schemes, including the Chief Minister Urban Creation Scheme, urban lakes, ponds and water bodies, cremation grounds, community toilets, Vandan Yojana, Aspirational Scheme, infrastructure funds, the 15th Finance Commission and urban cow shelters.
Quality Work Within Deadlines
The District Magistrate directed officials to ensure that all schemes and development projects are completed within the prescribed timelines and meet required quality standards.
She made it clear that any negligence or laxity at any level in the implementation of urban development works would invite action. Officials were instructed to maintain transparency throughout the execution of schemes and ensure regular monitoring of every project.
Niranjan also directed officials to ensure that the benefits of public welfare schemes reach all eligible beneficiaries.
Paraspur EO Absent Without Information
The District Magistrate expressed displeasure over the absence of Paraspur Nagar Panchayat Executive Officer Anurag Shukla from the review meeting without prior information.
She directed officials to issue him a show-cause notice and ordered that his salary be withheld.

Niranjan said the presence of officials in important review meetings was mandatory. Unauthorised absence from such meetings would be treated seriously and could result in disciplinary action.
Before-and-After Photographs Made Mandatory
The DM also directed officials to ensure that photographs are taken before the commencement and after the completion of every development project.
The photographs from both stages will have to be presented in PowerPoint presentations and meeting records, allowing officials to verify the actual progress and quality of development works.
Officials were also instructed to keep progress reports of every scheme updated.
Regular Review of Physical and Financial Progress
Niranjan directed officials to regularly review both the physical and financial progress of every sanctioned project. She stressed the importance of completing projects on schedule while maintaining continuous supervision over their implementation.
Additional District Magistrate Sanjay Kumar Singh, Additional Sub-Divisional Magistrates Ashok Kumar Gupta, Savita Shukla and Vineet Kumar, Executive Officer of Gonda Municipality Santram, executive officers of Karnailganj, Khargupur and Tarabganj, the Executive Officer of Mujehna Nagar Panchayat and other concerned officials attended the meeting.
