LUCKNOW: A tragic incident unfolded early on Wednesday when five members of a family were found dead inside a hotel in Lucknow’s Naka neighborhood. The police have arrested a suspect in connection with the murders.
According to a senior police official, the accused, identified as 24-year-old Arshad, allegedly killed five members of his own family. The police acted swiftly and apprehended Arshad from the crime scene.
The deceased have been identified as Arshad’s sisters: Rahmeen (18), Aksa (16), Alshia (19), and Alia (9). The fifth victim was his mother, Asma.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) for Central Lucknow, Raveena Tyagi, confirmed that the incident occurred at Hotel Sharanjit in the Naka area. Initial investigations suggest the motive was domestic conflict. Arshad, who hails from Agra, reportedly committed the act following ongoing family disputes.
Forensic teams have been dispatched to the scene to collect evidence, and a thorough investigation is underway. The police are also questioning hotel staff to gather further details regarding the incident.
Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime and Headquarters), Babloo Kumar, stated that the investigation is focusing on the signs of trauma found on some of the bodies, including injuries to the neck and wrist. “We are closely examining witness testimonies and the post-mortem reports to get a clearer picture,” Kumar added.
