Devipatan Division: Empowering girls through quality education, technology and scientific learning is crucial for India’s overall development and journey towards self-reliance, Divisional Commissioner Durga Shakti Nagpal has said.
Highlighting the role of Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs) in providing opportunities to girls from rural backgrounds, Nagpal said, “The country needs empowered daughters to move forward, and Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas are continuously working to prepare capable, skilled and confident girls for the future.”
Under the Basic Education Department of the Uttar Pradesh government, KGBVs across Devipatan Division are adopting innovative educational practices aimed at equipping girls with modern skills required in the 21st century.
A major initiative has been launched at Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya in Jhanjhari, Gonda, where the division’s first advanced laboratory dedicated to Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT) and computer-based learning has been established. Named the KGBV-Innovation Hub, the facility is being positioned as an important technological initiative in the state’s basic education system.
Students at the innovation hub are being introduced to contemporary digital tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini AI, DeepSeek and Scratch AI, along with practical learning in areas including machine learning and robotics. The initiative is intended to move beyond conventional classroom teaching and provide students with hands-on exposure to emerging technologies.
Digital learning has also been strengthened in KGBVs across Shravasti through smart classrooms. Digital educational content, videos and animations are being used to make complex subjects easier and more engaging for students. These methods are also helping promote logical reasoning, creativity and a better understanding of difficult concepts.
In Balrampur, residential Kasturba schools are using digital classes provided by Physics Wallah to give students access to guidance from expert teachers. The initiative is helping girls strengthen their fundamentals in science and mathematics while preparing for competitive examinations without having to leave their residential campuses.
Bahraich has focused on developing a scientific temperament among KGBV students. Girls are being regularly encouraged to participate in scientific experiments and practical learning activities. The approach is aimed at nurturing curiosity, analytical thinking and research-oriented capabilities among students.
The division’s approach extends beyond academic and technological education. KGBVs across Devipatan are also integrating yoga, self-defence training and sports into students’ routines to promote their physical, mental and emotional development.
Officials believe that this integrated model is helping bridge the opportunity gap between rural and urban students by giving girls from rural communities access to modern technology, scientific education, sports and personal development programmes.
The initiatives across Gonda, Shravasti, Balrampur and Bahraich reflect an effort to transform KGBVs into platforms where girls can develop not only academic capabilities but also confidence, creativity, technological skills and leadership qualities.
The administration said that by combining education with technology, scientific thinking, physical fitness and life skills, the KGBV network in Devipatan Division is preparing rural girls to participate more effectively in the emerging economy and contribute to the building of a self-reliant and progressive India.
