Lucknow: If you have left the field vacant for Rabi crops (wheat, potato, toria, mustard), then you can sow Dhaicha depending on the weather. Not only this, if the crop of any area has been destroyed due to waterlogging or flood, then also Dhaicha cultivation is the easiest option in the present time.
This will not only improve the production of Rabi crops, but the cost of cultivation will also decrease by about 25 percent due to less fertilizer, especially nitrogen. And the yield will increase in the same proportion. Sow Dhaicha to bring life to the dying soil in the long run due to increase in organic elements in the soil
– The yield of the next crop will increase at a low cost
– The physical structure of the soil will change
The benefit from changing the physical structure will be a bonus. Dhaicha and other green manure crops will prove to be a lifesaver for organic farming. According to former Deputy Director Land Conservation Dr. Akhilanand Pandey, there is still enough time to sow Dhaicha for Rabi crops. In view of the advantages of Dhaincha, the Yogi government is constantly encouraging farmers to sow Dhaincha and other green manure crops. It is also giving 50 percent subsidy on their seeds. This year also the price per kg was 90 rupees. This time the subsidy amount was reduced and the sale was done through POS machine at Krishi Kendras. Earlier the farmer had to pay the full price. The subsidy amount was later DBTed to the account of the concerned farmer.
Farmers became aware of green manure due to the efforts of the government-
According to Dr. Pandey, due to the efforts of the government and the government, during the last two decades, farmers have become aware of the usefulness of green manure (Dhaincha, Sunai, Urad and Moong). Hence the demand for their seeds has also increased. The Yogi government, committed to promoting natural and organic farming, is also encouraging green manure to increase organic elements in the soil. Among all these, Dhaincha is the most useful in terms of green manure.
Along with fertility, there is an increase in water retention, aeration and beneficial bacteria of the soil.
The roots of the Dhaicha crop contain such bacteria that take nitrogen from the air and fix it in the soil. The next crop gets the benefit of this. According to them, organic elements are the soul of the soil. The easiest and most effective way to increase it organically in the soil is green manure. The availability of organic elements in itself helps in increasing the productivity of all crops. It also acts as a catalyst for chemical fertilizers and increases their capacity.
If the field is not left vacant, the infestation of weeds in the next crop also reduces. Apart from fertility, this increases water retention, aeration and beneficial bacteria in the concerned land. By giving it a place in the crop cycle continuously, the physical structure of the land gradually changes.
Turn the crop 6 to 8 weeks after sowing-
According to Dr. DK Singh, Chief Area Manager of IFFCO, if Dhaicha is sown for green manure, then turn the crop about 6-8 weeks after sowing before flowering. After this, sow it in water in the field. For proper and quick decomposition of the crop, after turning the crop and before irrigation, 5 kg of urea can also be sprinkled per acre. The remains of the crop rot in about 3-4 weeks. After this, sow the next crop. 60-80 kg of seed is required per hectare of field.
Apart from Dhaicha, Sunai, Moong, Urd are also effective options for green manure-
Apart from Dhaicha, Sunai, Moong, Urd are also effective options for green manure. You can choose any of these according to sowing time, weather, availability of seeds and need. Out of these, Dhaicha and Sunai are most suitable for green manure. By sowing moong and urad, the farmer gets an additional crop of protein-rich pulses along with green manure. However, it is necessary to have own irrigation facility for these. 15-20 kg of seeds are required per hectare.
