Bhathkhande Sanskriti University Hosts Dialogue on ‘Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita & E-FIR’ and ‘Women-Led Development’

Lucknow: Bhathkhande Sanskriti University, Lucknow, organized two significant dialogue sessions on “Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita & E-FIR” and “Women-Led Development” at the Jaishankar Prasad Auditorium. The events witnessed active participation from academicians, legal experts, and students, reflecting strong intellectual engagement on contemporary legal and social themes.

The first session, focused on “Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita & E-FIR,” was chaired by Vice Chancellor Prof. Mandavi Singh. The keynote address was delivered by senior advocate of the Lucknow High Court,  Bulbul Godiyal, who elaborated on recent transformations in the Indian justice system. She highlighted the growing relevance of E-FIR, describing it as a step toward greater transparency, accessibility, and efficiency in filing complaints.

Godiyal also explained key provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including the acceptance of digital evidence such as WhatsApp communications, and the provision for deploying women police officers in cases involving women. She further clarified that if an FIR is not registered at a police station, citizens can seek justice through senior police officials such as the SP or SSP, or approach the judiciary.

The second dialogue focused on “Women-Led Development,” featuring Prof. Kumkum Dhar as the keynote speaker. She emphasized that women have historically played leadership roles since the Vedic period and continue to contribute significantly across sectors such as agriculture, handicrafts, small-scale industries, corporate services, and innovation. She underlined that equal participation of women is essential for holistic societal and national development.

Guest speaker Prof. Amita Bajpai, Professor in the Department of Education at the University of Lucknow, highlighted the role of education in empowering women. She stressed that leadership should be based on capability rather than gender. She noted that women’s representation in policymaking remains limited, despite their proven performance in leadership roles, and called for greater opportunities in decision-making spaces to achieve true equality.

In her concluding remarks, Vice Chancellor Prof. Mandavi Singh acknowledged the guidance of the Hon’ble Chancellor, stating that her visionary leadership continues to provide direction to the university, particularly in initiatives benefiting students and women. She appreciated the progressive policies that have strengthened academic and social development within the institution.

The programme was coordinated by Prof. Srishti Mathur, who also expressed gratitude to all speakers at the conclusion of the event. The proceedings were efficiently conducted by student anchor Pavni Awasthi.

University Registrar Dr. Srishti Dhawan, in her address, emphasized that women empowerment forms the foundation of nation-building. She noted that increasing participation of women in leadership roles is shaping society in meaningful ways and called for regular organization of such events to enhance awareness, knowledge, and a sense of social responsibility among students.
