Lucknow: The rich traditions of Indian classical dance were celebrated in grand style with the inauguration of Prekshanganam, a Bharatanatyam academy established under the guidance of senior classical dancer Preksha Gupta, at Indira Nagar in Lucknow.
The inaugural ceremony showcased the grace and elegance of Bharatanatyam, with Preksha Gupta presenting a mesmerizing performance of Alarippu, one of the foundational pieces of the classical dance form. Her expressive movements and rhythmic precision set the tone for an evening dedicated to artistic excellence and cultural heritage.
The event also featured performances by young students and aspiring dancers, including Dakshita Tiwari, Pragya Ranjan, Vidushi, Arna, Miska, Bhumi, Tanya, Arya Pandey, Stuti Srivastava, Poorna Mishra, Bhavya Mishra, Divisha Tripathi, Anushika and Sanjita. Their synchronized presentation of Nattuvangam and other Bharatanatyam elements earned appreciation from the audience and reflected the growing enthusiasm for classical arts among the younger generation.
Speaking on the occasion, Preksha Gupta said that Prekshanganam has been established with the aim of promoting and preserving the rich legacy of Bharatanatyam while providing structured training to students interested in Indian classical dance.

She noted that the academy will focus on imparting comprehensive education in Bharatanatyam, helping learners develop technical proficiency, artistic expression and a deeper understanding of India’s cultural traditions.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by art enthusiasts, cultural supporters and invited guests, including Nishi Mishra, who joined in celebrating the launch of the new institution.
The opening of Prekshanganam marks a significant addition to Lucknow’s vibrant cultural landscape and is expected to serve as a nurturing platform for aspiring Bharatanatyam dancers in the city.
