Mumbai: The buzz around Raja Shivaji continues to build as the historical epic nears its theatrical release, with actor Ajay Devgn extending a heartfelt show of support to Riteish Deshmukh and his ambitious directorial venture.
Riteish Deshmukh, who has helmed, written, produced, and headlined the film, brings to life the legacy of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj—one of India’s most revered warrior kings and the founder of Hindavi Swarajya. Backed by Jio Studios and Mumbai Film Company, the project is positioned as a grand cinematic tribute to Indian history.
Adding to the excitement, Ajay Devgn—who portrayed the legendary Maratha warrior in Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior—shared the Hindi version of the Raja Shivaji anthem “Chhatrapati” on social media, offering his endorsement in a symbolic gesture. Referencing his iconic role, Devgn wrote, “Tanhya chya naman, Raje! This looks incredible! Wishing you nothing but glory for #RajaShivaji @riteishd Jai Shivray!” The message, invoking the spirit of Tanhaji Malusare, has resonated strongly with fans.
The film’s much-anticipated trailer is scheduled to release on April 20, promising a glimpse into the scale and storytelling of the epic. Raja Shivaji also features a powerhouse ensemble cast including Sanjay Dutt, Abhishek Bachchan, Vidya Balan, Mahesh Manjrekar, Sachin Khedekar, Boman Irani, Bhagyashree, Fardeen Khan, Jitendra Joshi, Amol Gupte, and Genelia Deshmukh.

Produced by Jyoti Deshpande and Genelia Deshmukh, the film is set for a worldwide theatrical release on May 1, 2026, in Marathi, Hindi, and Telugu. With its scale, ensemble cast, and cultural significance, Raja Shivaji aims to bring alive the legacy of a legendary leader with grandeur, emotion, and cinematic spectacle.
