Kanpur: Marking World Clubfoot Day, the Adani Foundation, the social development arm of the Adani Group, has announced a three-year partnership with the Anushka Foundation, a specialist non-profit organization dedicated to the eradication of clubfoot. The collaboration aims to provide treatment and long-term care to more than 10,000 children affected by clubfoot across 61 districts in Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Himachal Pradesh.
The partnership was formally launched at Manyavar Kanshiram Joint Hospital and Trauma Centre in Kanpur, one of Uttar Pradesh’s key public healthcare institutions. Uttar Pradesh is among the states with the highest incidence of clubfoot in India, with nearly 6,000 children born with the condition each year.
Clubfoot is a congenital condition in which one or both feet are twisted inward at birth. Affecting approximately one in every 800 newborns, the condition can be effectively treated through the globally recognized Ponseti method. However, many children from underserved communities still miss timely treatment, affecting their mobility, confidence, and quality of life.
Building on Anushka Foundation’s existing clubfoot program, the initiative will focus on community awareness, medical care, capacity building, and family support over the next three years. Implemented in collaboration with the National Health Mission, the program will strengthen early identification, referral systems, and access to treatment through the public healthcare network.
Under the initiative, 67 clubfoot clinics across 61 districts in five states will receive support. The program will also strengthen the capabilities of 51 healthcare professionals and train over 30,000 frontline health workers to ensure timely diagnosis and intervention.

Speaking on the occasion, Priti Adani said that no child’s future should be limited by a condition that can be effectively treated when identified early. She emphasized that every child deserves the opportunity to walk, learn, play, and participate fully in life. She added that creating opportunities for differently-abled individuals has always been an integral part of the Foundation’s vision and expressed pride in supporting Anushka Foundation’s mission to build a future free from clubfoot-related barriers.
Deepak Premnarayan, Founder of Anushka Foundation, noted that clubfoot is among the few childhood physical conditions that can be successfully corrected. Despite this, thousands of children continue to miss timely treatment each year. He said the partnership would expand access to quality care, strengthen early detection systems, and ensure that a treatable condition does not become a lifelong obstacle to education and opportunity.
India records nearly 33,000 clubfoot births annually, with around 12,000 occurring in the five states covered under the program. By expanding treatment access, strengthening referral pathways, and supporting families throughout the treatment journey, the initiative is expected to make a significant contribution to addressing the challenge nationwide.
The partnership also reflects Adani Foundation’s continued commitment to community-centered development as it approaches its 30th anniversary on August 11. Established in 1996, the Foundation currently operates across 22 states, impacting more than 13.3 million people annually through initiatives in healthcare, education, sustainable livelihoods, climate action, and community development.
