Bareilly: Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University organised a series of programmes at the Department of Ancient History and Culture to mark the foundation day of the National Service Scheme (NSS) under the Service Sankalp campaign.
A lecture on “National Service Commitment and Drug De-addiction Campaign” was held under the guidance of the Vice-Chancellor and chaired by Prof. Vijay Bahadur Singh Yadav. Addressing NSS volunteers, Prof. Yadav urged them to make service to the nation a lifelong commitment and encourage young people to stay away from substance abuse.
Following the lecture, NSS volunteers took out an awareness rally to spread the message of de-addiction among the public. Programme Officer Dr Pawan Kumar Singh called upon volunteers to conduct sustained awareness campaigns and motivate people to reject substance abuse.
He said addiction can contribute to moral and social deterioration among young people and stressed the need to take the de-addiction message to every household.
Volunteers including Parineeta, Arpit, Pallavi and Shashank participated in the programme.
