District Health Committee Reviews Public Healthcare Delivery in Gonda; DM Issues Strict Directives to CHC Superintendents

Gonda: A comprehensive review of healthcare services and welfare schemes was conducted during the monthly meeting of the District Health Committee held under the chairpersonship of District Magistrate Priyanka Niranjan at the Collectorate auditorium.

The meeting focused on evaluating the implementation of various programmes being run under the National Health Mission (NHM) and assessing the overall performance of health institutions across the district. The District Magistrate reviewed key indicators through the UPHMIS Health Dashboard and examined progress related to maternal and child health, family welfare, community processes, non-communicable diseases, routine immunization, vaccination drives, institutional deliveries, Janani Suraksha Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, ASHA incentives, high-risk pregnancies, OPD and IPD services, and bed occupancy rates at Primary Health Centres (PHCs) and Community Health Centres (CHCs).

During the review, special attention was given to the National Child Health Programme, including field visits conducted in May 2026, the status of children admitted to Nutrition Rehabilitation Centres (NRCs), RCH portal data feeding, the National Programme for Prevention and Control of Cancer, Diabetes, Cardiovascular Diseases and Stroke (NPCDCS), the National Leprosy Eradication Programme, and the National Programme for Control of Blindness and Visual Impairment. Officials were directed to ensure timely execution of all assigned responsibilities.

Addressing CHC superintendents, the District Magistrate stressed the importance of regular monitoring and instructed them to conduct scheme-wise reviews with subordinate staff to ensure timely implementation of government healthcare initiatives.

She reiterated that public health facilities must function in line with the government’s objective of providing quality healthcare services to all citizens. CHC and PHC heads were directed to reside at their respective headquarters and ensure that institutional deliveries and vaccination programmes are carried out efficiently and on schedule.

Reviewing healthcare infrastructure projects, the District Magistrate also instructed officials to increase the admission of eligible patients under the Ayushman Bharat health insurance scheme and to ensure regular updates on the e-Kavach portal. She emphasized the need to improve institutional delivery figures and directed authorities to ensure the presence of Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANMs) at all sub-centres so that patients receive uninterrupted healthcare services.

To strengthen immunization coverage, all CHC superintendents were instructed to personally identify vaccination sites in their respective areas and work toward maximizing vaccination coverage among children and women.

In a related directive, the District Basic Education Officer was asked to launch a large-scale cleanliness campaign in schools across the district.

The District Magistrate further ordered that all CHCs must prominently display lists of doctors along with their photographs, making healthcare personnel easily identifiable for patients and visitors.

Reviewing the progress of Ayushman Card generation, she directed officials to intensify awareness and enrollment campaigns in Karnailganj and Paraspur to increase beneficiary coverage. Officials were also instructed to conduct surveys of deceased individuals and those who have migrated from the area to maintain accurate records.

To improve accountability at healthcare centres, the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) was directed to monitor the daily attendance of Community Health Officers (CHOs) through live-location-based tracking. Additionally, all CHC superintendents were instructed to undertake at least six field visits every month and submit detailed health department checklists to the CMO office following each inspection.

The meeting was attended by Chief Development Officer Dayanand Prasad, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Sant Lal Patel, senior officials from the district and women’s hospitals, Additional Chief Medical Officers, District Programme Management Unit representatives, the District Programme Officer, the Basic Education Officer, representatives of World Health Organization and UNICEF, CHC superintendents, and other concerned departmental officers.

The review concluded with a renewed emphasis on strengthening healthcare delivery systems, improving monitoring mechanisms, and ensuring that government health schemes reach beneficiaries effectively across Gonda district.
