Lucknow: The Regional Centre of Lalit Kala Akademi today inaugurated its much-anticipated ‘Open Studio’ Exhibition under the Scholarship Programme 2023–24, offering visitors a unique opportunity to explore the creative journeys, research practices, and artistic processes of emerging scholars.
The exhibition was formally inaugurated in the presence of distinguished senior artists Jai Krishna Agrawal, Rajendra Prasad, and Devendra Tripathi, along with all eight scholarship recipients participating in the programme.
The exhibition, which will remain open to the public until June 30, 2026, serves as an engaging platform for young artists to present their latest experiments, conceptual explorations, and studio practices. Beyond showcasing finished artworks, the initiative allows visitors to gain insight into the creative environments and thought processes that shape contemporary artistic expression.
The exhibition features works by eight talented scholar-artists whose diverse mediums and themes explore society, culture, philosophy, and human experience.
Among the highlights, Kanumonu Venu presents a series of paintings reflecting the continuous human struggle between life and death through a sensitive and philosophical lens. Komal Devi showcases graphic print works inspired by the spiritual power of Goddess Kamakhya and the concept of the Navarasas (Nine Emotions) in Indian philosophy, blending traditional symbolism with contemporary artistic interpretation.
Artist Payal Singh focuses on rural life, capturing local traditions, beliefs, and cultural narratives through vibrant paintings that celebrate India’s rich folk heritage. In the field of sculpture, Prachi Agrawal employs carved bricks and expressive human forms to address pressing social issues, transforming ordinary materials into thought-provoking artistic statements.
The exhibition also features the works of Sanjay Kumar, whose paintings use dynamic human figures and gestures to raise social awareness and provoke reflection on contemporary concerns. Tanya Gupta presents an emotionally resonant body of work inspired by the nurturing and compassionate personality of her mother, translating personal memories into compelling visual narratives.

Photography enthusiast Saurabh Singh contributes a collection of images that capture artistic perspectives and contemporary themes with remarkable subtlety and precision. Meanwhile, Twinkle Nanda showcases an innovative series of ceramic works that demonstrate experimentation with form, texture, and material, expanding the possibilities of the medium.
Speaking about the initiative, organizers emphasized that the ‘Open Studio’ programme is more than a conventional exhibition. It provides a rare glimpse into the intellectual and creative evolution of young artists, allowing audiences to engage with the ideas, research, and processes that inform their work.
The exhibition is being held at the Lalit Kala Akademi Regional Centre, 1 Ekta Vihar, Sector-E, Aliganj, Lucknow, and will remain open daily from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM until June 30, 2026.
Organized under the guidance of Regional Secretary Dr. Devendra Tripathi, the programme reflects the Akademi’s continued commitment to nurturing artistic talent and encouraging meaningful cultural dialogue. The Akademi has invited art enthusiasts, students, researchers, and members of the public to visit the exhibition and experience firsthand the creative vision of a new generation of Indian artists.
More than a display of paintings, sculptures, photographs, and ceramic works, the ‘Open Studio’ exhibition stands as a reflection of each artist’s intellectual journey and unique perspective on society, culture, and contemporary life.
