Bareilly: Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University (MJPRU), Bareilly, organised a Deeksharambh programme for newly admitted students of the B.Ed. and M.Ed. programmes under the Institute of Advanced Studies in Education (IASE) in the Department of Education and Allied Sciences.
The programme was organised under the inspiration and guidance of Vice-Chancellor Prof. K.P. Singh and witnessed enthusiastic participation by a large number of newly admitted B.Ed. and M.Ed. students. An orientation programme was also held for newly admitted PhD scholars in Education, providing them with important information about the university, faculty, department and research procedures.
The programme was held in the department’s conference room and began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp. A short documentary on the university was subsequently screened to familiarise students with the academic environment and campus.
Students were briefed about the academic activities, facilities and resources available at the Faculty of Education and Allied Sciences and the B.Ed./M.Ed. department.
Programme coordinator Prof. (Dr.) Santosh Arora, Dean of the Faculty of Education and Allied Sciences and Head of the B.Ed./M.Ed. Department, addressed the students and research scholars. She highlighted the academic and research opportunities available at the university and encouraged newly admitted students to focus on regular studies, discipline, academic participation and personality development.
She said effective utilisation of the university’s resources would help students achieve their academic and professional goals.
During the orientation session for PhD scholars, participants were briefed about the research process, departmental academic environment, research expectations and research facilities available at the university. They were encouraged to undertake original and quality research, with emphasis on discipline, consistency, academic integrity and a scientific approach.
Dr Tarun Rashtriya, in-charge of the M.Ed. programme, provided students with information about the course, while Dr Pratibha Sagar, in-charge of B.Ed. first year, explained important aspects of the B.Ed. programme.
Dr Kirti Prajapati, warden of the Laxmi Bai Kelkar Hostel, briefed students about hostel facilities. Dr Rashmi Ranjan, Assistant DSW and Student Council Coordinator, provided information about student welfare activities and the Student Council. Assistant Proctor Dr Rambabu Singh briefed students about proctorial discipline and guidelines related to identity cards.
Following the first session and lunch break, students were taken on a tour of the department and university campus. Faculty members introduced them to various academic and institutional facilities available on the campus.
The programme was conducted by Dr Vimal Kumar. The participation of a large number of students and newly admitted research scholars contributed to the success of the initiative.
The Deeksharambh and research orientation programme provided new students and scholars with an opportunity to understand the university’s academic and research environment and helped create a positive foundation for their academic journey.
The programme conveyed the message that the university is not merely a centre for formal education but also an important platform for knowledge, research, innovation, personality development and academic excellence.
Prof Yashpal Singh, Prof Anju Agrawal, Prof Sudhir Kumar Verma, Prof Kshama Pandey, Dr Neeraj, Dr Meenakshi Dwivedi, Dr Suresh Kumar and research scholars of the department were also present.
