Nationwide Harmony: Over 830,000 NCC Cadets Unite for International Day of Yoga 2026

New Delhi: On June 21, 2026, the National Cadet Corps (NCC) marked the 12th International Day of Yoga (IDY) with a massive, countrywide celebration of fitness, mindfulness, and patriotic spirit. In a stunning display of synchronization, more than 8.30 lakh (830,000) NCC cadets, Associate NCC Officers, Permanent Instructors, and staff rolled out their yoga mats simultaneously across India.

The initiative spanned over 5,000 locations countrywide, reinforcing the organization’s dedication to embedding physical fitness, mental clarity, and holistic health into the lives of young youth.

From Riverfronts to Ancient Forts: Iconic Venues

To honor the occasion, the synchronized yoga sessions were staged at some of India’s most historic, scenic, and culturally significant landmarks:

  • Historical & Spiritual Sites: The ancient steps of the Konark Sun Temple in Odisha, the historic walls of Golconda Fort in Hyderabad, and the serene spiritual grounds of Bodh Gaya in Bihar.

  • Iconic Waterfronts: The bustling Sabarmati Riverfront in Ahmedabad, the scenic banks of the Brahmaputra River in Guwahati, the vibrant Namo Ghat in Varanasi, Marina Beach in Chennai, and Sukhna Lake in Chandigarh.

  • Major Urban Hubs: The legendary Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai and Millennium Park in Kolkata.
