Waste to Art Bouquets Used to Welcome Minister, DM and Mayor in Bareilly

Bareilly: In an innovative demonstration of the “Kabadi Se Jugaad” concept, bouquets made from discarded materials were used to welcome the Forest and Environment Minister, District Magistrate and Mayor at a public service and awareness camp in Bareilly.

The programme was organised at Guddar Bagh in Ward 58, Gulab Nagar, under the Swachhata Hi Seva and Seva Sankalp Abhiyan–2026, as part of the Swachh Survekshan 2025-26 initiatives. More than 1,200 citizens participated in the multi-department camp and availed themselves of various government services, schemes and awareness activities.

A major attraction was the creative sanitation awareness stall set up by the Municipal Corporation’s Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) team. The stall showcased Waste to Art and “Kabadi Se Jugaad” through creative installations.

The SBM IEC team prepared decorative bouquets by reusing discarded and otherwise unused materials. These bouquets were used to welcome Forest and Environment Minister Arun Kumar Saxena, District Magistrate Avinash Singh and Mayor Umesh Gautam. The initiative highlighted how materials normally treated as waste can be creatively reused for decoration and other purposes.

The stall featured creative models and installations on four-way waste segregation, Reduce, Reuse and Recycle (RRR), home composting, Waste to Art and Waste to Green. Visitors were informed about the importance of segregating wet, dry and other categories of waste at source and managing them appropriately.

A Home Composting model demonstrated how organic household waste can be converted into compost. The team also showcased the reuse of discarded plastic bottles for plantation and decorative purposes under the Waste to Green concept.

Citizens were encouraged to explore reuse and upcycling options before discarding items as waste, with the objective of reducing waste generation, conserving resources and supporting environmental protection.

The multi-department camp brought several public services under one roof, including health, labour, food and civil supplies, Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission, employment services, Seva Setu and solar systems, animal husbandry, horticulture, Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, tax services, Backward Classes Welfare, Social Welfare, Divyangjan Empowerment, Women Welfare, Basic Education, electricity bill correction, Mukhyamantri Yuva Swarozgar Yojana and Swachh Bharat Mission.

Officials at the various stalls heard citizens’ concerns and provided information, guidance and assistance regarding government schemes and services.

Minister Arun Kumar Saxena, advocate Anil Kumar Saxena, District Magistrate Avinash Singh, Mayor Umesh Gautam, councillors, members of the SBM team and officials and employees of participating departments attended the programme.

The initiative sought to promote public participation in cleanliness, waste segregation at source, reuse, recycling, resource recovery and Waste to Art.

The SBM team conveyed the message: “Treat waste as a resource—reuse discarded materials, adopt Waste to Art and make cleanliness a habit.”
