Delhi: The Indian Coast Guard observed the 12th International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2026 with widespread enthusiasm through its flagship initiative “Yoga Sangam 2026,” reinforcing the importance of Yoga in promoting holistic health, resilience, and well-being among personnel and their families.
Aligned with the theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing,” the celebrations were conducted across all Coast Guard ships, stations, and establishments nationwide. Thousands of personnel, along with their family members, actively participated in structured yoga sessions guided by trained instructors, featuring a blend of asanas, pranayama, and meditation practices.
The sessions focused on integrating yoga into daily routines to improve physical fitness, mental clarity, emotional balance, stress management, and operational readiness—particularly for personnel serving in demanding maritime environments.
The central event was held at the Indian Coast Guard Complex in Noida in collaboration with the Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga. The programme was attended by Director General Indian Coast Guard Shri Paramesh Sivamani, along with over 1,000 personnel and family members.

Addressing the gathering, the Director General highlighted Yoga as a powerful tool for maintaining physical vitality, mental well-being, and professional effectiveness. He emphasized its special relevance for uniformed personnel working in high-pressure operational settings, where physical endurance and mental stability are essential.
As part of “Yoga Sangam 2026,” synchronized yoga sessions across Coast Guard units reflected the organisation’s commitment to the welfare of its personnel and their families. The initiative underscored the Indian Coast Guard’s continued focus on enhancing quality of life while strengthening operational resilience through holistic wellness practices.
The nationwide observance reaffirmed the Indian Coast Guard’s dedication to integrating Yoga into daily life as a means of building healthier individuals, stronger teams, and a more resilient maritime security force.
