Lucknow Mayor Directs One-Week Deadline to Resolve Water and Sewer Tax Objections of Schools

Lucknow: A high-level review meeting was held on Monday under the chairmanship of Mayor Sushma Kharkwal to address pending objections related to water and sewer tax being levied on schools and colleges across the city.

The meeting was attended by Municipal Commissioner Gaurav Kumar, Additional Municipal Commissioner Arun Kumar Gupta, GM Jal Kal Kuldeep Singh, Chief Tax Assessment Officer Ashok Singh, and all zonal officers.

During the meeting, the Mayor and Municipal Commissioner directed officials to ensure that all objections filed by educational institutions are reviewed and resolved within one week. They emphasized that the revision and reassessment process must be completed in a time-bound manner without delay.

Officials were also instructed to update the revised annual property valuation immediately after reassessment and ensure that all records are accurately reflected in the system on a daily basis.

Municipal Commissioner Gaurav Kumar further directed that a daily progress report on the disposal of objections must be submitted to him for continuous monitoring of the process.

He stressed that all cases should be handled in a fair, transparent and efficient manner so that schools and colleges do not face any inconvenience during the tax assessment process.

The meeting also reviewed coordination among departments involved in tax assessment and grievance redressal. Officials were instructed to prioritize quality resolution of complaints and ensure that all pending objections are disposed of on a priority basis.

The administration reiterated its commitment to a smooth, transparent and accountable taxation process for educational institutions in the city.
