Bareilly: The Department of Education at Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University organized a seminar and interactive session on the occasion of Somnath Swabhiman Parv, under the guidance and inspiration of Vice-Chancellor Prof. K. P. Singh. The programme emerged as a confluence of cultural pride, spiritual awareness, and academic engagement.
The session was conducted by M.Ed. student Jayati Shukla. At the outset, Nodal Officer Dr. Prem Pal Singh addressed the gathering, highlighting the historical and cultural significance of the Somnath Temple. He emphasized that the observance of this पर्व reconnects society with its rich heritage and strengthens cultural identity.
Dr. Singh also elaborated on symbolic elements associated with Lord Shiva—including the crescent moon, Ganga, trident, damru, and Nandi—encouraging students to uphold national unity and preserve cultural heritage.
The keynote speaker, Prof. Ashutosh Priya, urged students to recognize and embrace their cultural roots with pride, stating that awareness of heritage is essential for building a strong identity.
Students actively participated in the programme. M.Ed. student Priya Shukla shared her views, describing the Somnath Temple as a symbol of faith and self-respect.

Concluding the session, Head of Department Dr. Anju Agrawal delivered the vote of thanks. She drew parallels between the repeated reconstruction of the Somnath Temple and the importance of perseverance in life, motivating students to remain committed to continuous effort.
The programme was attended by faculty members including Dr. Sudhir Kumar Verma, Dr. Meenakshi Dwivedi, Dr. Rambabu Singh, Rashmi Ranjan, Vimal Kumar, and Dr. Kirti Prajapati, along with several research scholars such as Kapil Tiwari, Akash, Shivi, Satyaprakash, Shalini, Sabia, Dhananjay, and Babilesh.
The event concluded on an inspiring note, reinforcing the importance of cultural awareness and continuous learning among students.
