Priyansh Arya’s Blitz Powers Punjab Kings to Season-High 254 in Run-Fest Win Over LSG

Bengaluru: Punjab Kings (PBKS) delivered a batting masterclass in IPL 2026, posting a staggering 254/7—the highest total of the season—against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in Match 29. The innings was headlined by a sensational knock from Priyansh Arya, whose fearless strokeplay set the tone for a record-breaking run spree.

Early Jolt, Explosive Recovery

PBKS suffered an early setback when Mohammad Shami dismissed Prabhsimran Singh for a duck, leaving them at 3/1. However, what followed was a complete turnaround led by Priyansh Arya.

Taking charge immediately, Arya unleashed a barrage of boundaries, racing to 46 during the powerplay. His aggressive approach, particularly against Mohsin Khan, dismantled LSG’s bowling plans. Supported by Cooper Connolly’s steady 11 runs, PBKS surged from 7/1 after the first over to a commanding 63/1 at the end of the powerplay.

Middle Overs Turn Into Carnage

The real damage came in the middle overs, where PBKS transformed a strong start into outright dominance. From 63/1 in 6 overs, they rocketed to 214/5 by the 17th over—adding a massive 151 runs in just 11 overs.

Arya continued his onslaught, bringing up a blistering half-century in just 19 balls, while Connolly complemented him with a rapid fifty of his own. The defining moment came in the 13th over, when Aiden Markram was taken apart for 31 runs, including five towering sixes.

Although LSG managed to pick up wickets—Prince Yadav removing Connolly, M. Siddharth dismissing Arya, and Mohsin Khan accounting for Shreyas Iyer—the momentum remained firmly with Punjab, who refused to ease off the attack.

Ruthless Finish Seals Record Total

PBKS capped off their innings in emphatic fashion, adding 40 runs in the final three overs to finish at 254/7. Marcus Stoinis played a key role in the death overs, launching a counterattack that ensured the scoring rate never dipped.

The 18th over saw Stoinis take on Avesh Khan for 15 runs with a sequence of boundaries. Mohammad Shami’s 19th over proved expensive, conceding 20 runs, including big hits from both Stoinis and Shashank Singh. Though Prince Yadav struck in the final over and Stoinis was run out off the last ball, the damage had already been done.

Arya’s Knock Steals the Show

Priyansh Arya was the undisputed star of the innings, smashing 93 off just 37 balls at an astonishing strike rate of over 250. His innings featured 4 fours and 9 sixes, combining clean hitting with fearless intent.

Arya’s ability to dominate both pace and short-pitched bowling stood out, as he consistently found the boundary and kept the pressure firmly on LSG. It was a knock that not only defined the match but also announced his arrival as a serious T20 force.

A Statement Performance

Punjab Kings’ total of 254 underlined their batting depth and aggressive mindset. In a format where momentum is everything, PBKS showed how sustained attacking cricket can overwhelm even experienced bowling line-ups.

With this performance, Punjab Kings have sent a strong message to the rest of the league—on their day, they are capable of rewriting records and redefining dominance.
