Bengaluru: Punjab Kings (PBKS) continued their unbeaten run in IPL 2026 with a commanding 54-run win over Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), reaffirming their status as one of the most formidable sides this season. Opting to bowl first after winning the toss, LSG captain Rishabh Pant backed the chasing trend at the venue—but Punjab’s explosive batting proved too much to handle.
Arya and Connolly Power Punjab to 254
PBKS delivered a batting spectacle, piling up a massive 254 runs on the board. The innings was driven by two standout performances—Priyansh Arya’s blistering 93 and Cooper Connolly’s equally impressive 87.
The duo dismantled LSG’s bowling attack with aggressive strokeplay and smart placement, maintaining a relentless scoring rate throughout the innings. Their partnership laid the foundation for one of the highest totals of the season, leaving Lucknow with a daunting chase of 255.
Lucknow’s Chase: Promising Start, Mounting Pressure
In response, LSG made a tactical change at the top, promoting Ayush Badoni to open alongside Mitchell Marsh. The pair got off to a brisk start, putting up 61 runs in the powerplay.
However, the required run rate—hovering around 13 runs per over—kept the pressure firmly on. Despite their intent, both batters struggled to maintain the pace needed, often mistiming big shots in search of acceleration.
Middle-Order Efforts Fall Short
After Badoni’s dismissal, Rishabh Pant and Marsh attempted to revive the chase with a quick scoring burst. Pant struck 43 off 23 balls, while Marsh added 40 from 28 deliveries. But with the asking rate climbing steadily, both fell while trying to force the issue.
Nicholas Pooran’s struggles continued as he managed just 9 off 9 balls, further denting LSG’s hopes. Aiden Markram, batting in the middle order this time, provided late resistance with a brisk 42 off 22 balls, supported by Mukul Chaudhary’s 21. However, by then, the result was all but decided.

Punjab Seal Comfortable Win
Despite some late hitting, LSG could only reach 200, falling well short of the target. Punjab’s bowlers maintained control, with Marco Jansen leading the attack with figures of 2/37 in his four overs.
The disciplined bowling effort complemented the batting dominance, ensuring a comprehensive victory for PBKS.
PBKS Strengthen Top Spot
With this win, Punjab Kings remain unbeaten and firmly placed at the top of the points table. They now have 11 points from six matches, with five wins and no losses, putting them in a strong position for playoff qualification.
Lucknow Super Giants, meanwhile, continue to struggle in the lower half of the table, sitting eighth with just four points from six games.
Punjab’s all-round performance once again highlighted their balance and depth, making them a serious title contender as the tournament progresses.
