Varanasi/Lucknow: The 103rd edition of the renowned Sankat Mochan Sangeet Samaroh concluded with grandeur at the historic Sankat Mochan Temple, celebrating a rich confluence of spirituality, music, art, and literature. The six-day cultural festival once again transformed the temple premises into a vibrant hub of artistic and devotional expression.
As part of the event, a special art camp witnessed participation from around 22 artists and sculptors from across the country. Among the invited artists was Lucknow-based artist, curator, and art writer Bhupendra Kumar Asthana, whose work drew significant attention.
Asthana presented a striking pen-and-ink artwork on the theme of Lord Hanuman, captivating art enthusiasts and spectators alike. His creation, titled “Aapan Tej Samaro Aape…”, blended realism with symbolism, offering a deeper philosophical interpretation of Hanuman—not merely as a symbol of strength, but as a representation of inner awareness, balance, and spiritual consciousness.
During the event, the Sankat Mochan Foundation honoured Asthana on the art stage. The honour was conferred by noted scholar Prakash Shukla, a senior writer, critic, and professor at Banaras Hindu University. He was presented with an अंगवस्त्र and a memento in recognition of his artistic contribution.
Explaining his artwork, Asthana said the raised mountain in Hanuman’s hand symbolizes responsibility and capability, while the natural elements depicted on the body represent creative energy. The stability of the mace and the coiled tail reflect controlled power and balance.

A unique highlight of the artwork is the multi-layered facial structure, symbolically evoking the concept of Panchmukhi Hanuman. Rather than depicting five distinct faces, the composition integrates multiple perspectives into a single visage—representing the philosophical ideas of Panch Tatva and Panch Shakti.
The artwork ultimately conveys a profound message—that true strength lies not in outward display, but in inner discipline, awareness, and spiritual balance.
The piece received widespread appreciation from scholars, artists, and attendees. Prominent personalities present at the event included temple Mahant Vishambhar Nath Mishra, Pushkar Mishra, Dr. Vijay Nath Mishra, Yatindra Nath Chaturvedi, Rajendra Sharma, sculptor Rajesh Kumar, and several art lovers.
The ceremony once again reaffirmed its legacy as one of India’s most prestigious platforms celebrating the timeless synergy of devotion and artistic excellence.
