District Magistrate Assigns Responsibilities to Departments for Successful Pulse Polio Campaign 2026

Bareilly: District Magistrate Avinash Singh has directed all concerned departments to actively participate in the successful implementation of the Pulse Polio National Immunization Drive (NID) in the district. The campaign is scheduled to continue until July 6, 2026, including activities undertaken by B-Teams for covering missed children and ensuring complete immunization.

The District Magistrate emphasized that coordinated efforts among various government departments are essential to achieve the objective of administering polio vaccine drops to every child below five years of age.

To ensure widespread awareness, the Municipal Commissioner has been instructed to undertake an intensive publicity campaign through door-to-door awareness vehicles, public address systems installed at major intersections, and LED display screens across the district.

All Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDMs) have been directed to convene Tehsil Task Force Committee meetings involving representatives of all relevant departments. They have also been asked to instruct revenue officials, including lekhpals, to work with local influential community members to persuade families who may be reluctant to vaccinate their children and ensure that no eligible child is left out of the campaign.

The District Basic Education Officer has been directed to keep all primary and upper primary schools serving as Pulse Polio booths open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on June 28, 2026, designated as the Pulse Polio Booth Day. Schools will organize awareness rallies and mobilization activities to encourage parents to bring children under five years of age to vaccination booths.

The administration has also instructed schools hosting Pulse Polio booths to ensure the preparation of Mid-Day Meals on the campaign day. Anganwadi workers and assistants will be responsible for bringing all registered children aged three to five years to the booths for vaccination and motivating mothers to ensure that children under five receive the polio dose.

Anganwadi workers assigned as supervisors or vaccinators will work under the guidance of medical officers and perform duties as assigned during the campaign period.

Supervisors deployed for the campaign from the Basic Education Department, Panchayati Raj institutions, Urban Local Bodies, Supply Department, Minority Welfare Department, Revenue Department, and ICDS will coordinate with polio teams and ASHA workers to monitor campaign activities and ensure implementation at the village and neighborhood levels. They will also resolve any field-level challenges through close coordination with local staff.

The District Magistrate has further directed the Indian Medical Association (IMA) to support the campaign by adopting 50 Pulse Polio booths in urban areas and 10 booths in each development block in coordination with concerned medical officers. As part of awareness and motivation efforts, IMA representatives will distribute whistles, balls, toffees, biscuits, and other small items among children visiting vaccination booths.

District officials expressed confidence that the collaborative efforts of health workers, educational institutions, local bodies, community leaders, and civil society organizations will help achieve complete immunization coverage and strengthen the district’s fight against polio.
