Special Cleanliness Drive and Public Grievance Camp Held in Naumahla Slum Area

District Magistrate Promotes ‘Clean Bareilly, Healthy Bareilly’ Mission

Bareilly: As part of the special outreach campaign being conducted to mark the completion of 12 years of the Central Government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Bareilly Municipal Corporation organized a Special Cleanliness Drive, Plastic Waste Disposal Awareness Programme, and Public Grievance Redressal Camp in the Naumahla slum settlement of Ward No. 09 on Sunday.

The campaign focused on cleaning public spaces, drains, and surrounding areas while spreading awareness about sanitation and the segregation and proper disposal of plastic waste. Civic workers and public representatives joined residents in promoting cleanliness and environmental responsibility.

A “Government at Your Doorstep” public grievance camp was also organized as part of the programme. Various government departments set up information and assistance stalls to provide guidance on pensions, electricity services, public distribution systems, healthcare, sanitation, and other welfare schemes. Officials listened to citizens’ concerns and resolved several complaints on the spot while initiating the process of connecting eligible beneficiaries with government welfare programmes.

To highlight the importance of community participation in cleanliness efforts, Member of Parliament Chhatrapal Singh Gangwar, Mayor Dr. Umesh Gautam, Cantonment MLA Sanjeev Agarwal, and District Magistrate Avinash Singh participated in a symbolic cleanliness drive by sweeping roads in the Naumahla slum area. A pledge promoting the spirit of “Swachhata Hi Seva” (Cleanliness is Service) was also administered.

Addressing the gathering, MP Chhatrapal Singh Gangwar said that the government is now taking welfare schemes directly to eligible beneficiaries at their doorstep. He encouraged residents of slum areas to bring forward their concerns during the camp and assured them that officials would make every effort to resolve their issues. He also directed departmental officers to treat public grievances with seriousness and sensitivity.

Mayor Dr. Umesh Gautam said the camp had been organized to commemorate the successful completion of 12 years of the Central Government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. He noted that residents could seek assistance regarding any departmental issue through the camp and emphasized that public representatives and officials were now directly engaging with citizens to address their concerns.

The Mayor further stressed that cleanliness is not solely the responsibility of the government but a collective duty of society. “A clean city leads to a healthier population, and active public participation is essential in maintaining cleanliness,” he said, urging citizens to promptly register their complaints and take advantage of the services being offered.

Cantonment MLA Sanjeev Agarwal highlighted the broader message behind the cleanliness campaign, stating that sanitation is a shared responsibility. He called upon residents to contribute actively toward keeping the city clean and maintaining hygienic surroundings at home and in public places.

District Magistrate Avinash Singh said the programme was being conducted under the theme of bringing government services closer to the people. He explained that the objective was to visit every household in the slum settlement, identify local issues, and provide quick and effective solutions while creating awareness about developmental progress and public welfare initiatives.

The District Magistrate also emphasized the importance of citizen participation in maintaining cleanliness and urged residents to embrace the vision of “Clean Bareilly, Healthy Bareilly.” He noted that the administration aims to ensure that the benefits of welfare schemes reach the last person in the queue and that public grievances are addressed near their place of residence.

Local residents appreciated the initiative and described the camp as a useful and citizen-friendly effort. Many expressed gratitude to the district administration and the Municipal Corporation for bringing essential services and grievance redressal mechanisms directly to their community.

Municipal Commissioner Sanjeev Maurya, Additional Municipal Commissioner Shashi Bhushan Rai, local councillors, officials from various departments, municipal staff, and a large number of residents were present during the programme.
