Lucknow: Addressing a press conference at the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee office, former minister and UP Congress President Ajay Rai strongly criticized the BJP government, asserting that it seeks to marginalize the poor rather than alleviate poverty. The event was attended by Dr. Rajendra Pal Gautam (AICC SC Department Chairman and former minister), Dr. Anil Jai Hind (AICC OBC Department Chairman), Dr. C.P. Rai, Anil Yadav, Manish Hindavi, and Manoj Yadav, among other senior leaders.
Dr. Rajendra Pal Gautam highlighted that the sacrifices made during India’s freedom struggle contrast sharply with current governance. He said children are forced to leave school due to financial hardship, citizens die due to lack of healthcare, and trade agreements under foreign pressure harm farmers. He accused the BJP of acting against the very principles of independence, claiming the government repeatedly surrenders public interests despite projecting nationalism.
Dr. Anil Jai Hind announced that the Congress Party will celebrate Kanshiram Ji’s birth anniversary on March 13 as Social Transformation Day, honoring his vision and continuing the fight for social justice initiated by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and carried forward by Kanshiram Ji. He emphasized that current leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, are continuing this struggle despite political intimidation.

Former minister Ajay Rai condemned rising crimes against Dalits in UP, citing a recent attack in Bhadohi, and declared that the BJP government endangers marginalized communities. He stated that Congress is committed to protecting the honor and security of Dalits and will implement the ideals of Baba Saheb Ambedkar and Kanshiram Ji through the upcoming Social Transformation Day events.
