Bareilly: The Department of Humanities at Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University (MJPRU) organised a one-day ‘Spell Bee’ competition for first-year B.Tech students, providing newly admitted engineering students an opportunity to showcase their command of English spelling and vocabulary.
The competition was held under the chairmanship of University Vice-Chancellor Professor Anil Kumar Rai. Students from various branches of the Faculty of Engineering participated enthusiastically in the intellectual competition and demonstrated impressive linguistic knowledge, spelling accuracy and vocabulary skills.

Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Professor Archana Gupta and Head of the Department of Humanities Professor Anita Tyagi were present on the occasion. The judging panel comprised Assistant Professors from the Department of English, Dr Shiv Singh and Dr Pawan Yadav, who evaluated the participants impartially on the basis of their linguistic proficiency.
The programme was jointly conducted by Dr Shinshupa, Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics, and Shaishav Mohan, Teaching Assistant in English. Their coordination ensured the smooth conduct of the competition and encouraged active participation among the students.

At the conclusion of the event, Professor Anita Tyagi and Dr Raka Saxena, Assistant Professor in the Department of MSW, presented a soulful rendition of ‘Vande Mataram’. Dr Raka Saxena subsequently delivered the formal vote of thanks, acknowledging the contribution of faculty members, organisers and participants to the successful conduct of the event.
The organisers said the winners of the Spell Bee competition would be felicitated during the forthcoming convocation/valedictory session. Certificates and prizes will be presented to the winning participants in recognition of their performance.
The competition reflected the university’s efforts to promote communication skills and linguistic confidence among engineering students, alongside their technical education.
