Dalit Woman Murder Case: Family Protests on Roads in Meerut for Over 5 Hours, Demands Bulldozer Action

Meerut: Tension prevailed in Kapsad village of Meerut district on Friday as the family members of a Dalit woman, murdered following the abduction of her daughter, continued their protest for more than five hours, demanding strict action against the accused. The aggrieved family has refused to perform the last rites of the deceased woman, Sunita, insisting on the immediate arrest of the accused, demolition of their houses through bulldozer action, and exemplary punishment.

Despite continuous efforts by police and district administration officials to pacify the protesters, no breakthrough had been achieved till the filing of this report. Senior police and administrative officers remain stationed at the site in view of the sensitive situation. The family members maintained that they would not end their protest or conduct the funeral until all their demands are met.

Amid the protest, a Samajwadi Party woman leader intensified the political heat by symbolically handing over bangles to the Superintendent of Police (Rural), Abhijeet Singh, as a mark of protest against the administration’s handling of the case.

Meanwhile, authorities allowed several political leaders, including Samajwadi Party MLA Atul Pradhan, the district president and workers of the Azad Samaj Party, and other leaders, to enter the village. The leaders met the victim’s family and assured them of justice.

Given the tense atmosphere in the village, heavy police deployment has been made to prevent any untoward incident. The administration reiterated that the investigation is underway and strict action will be taken against those found guilty. However, the family remains adamant on immediate action, leading to continued unrest in the area.

The situation escalated after the abduction of a Dalit girl and the subsequent murder of her mother, triggering widespread outrage and protests across the village.
