Mumbai: The TATA Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 Auction turned into a defining moment for Vidarbha cricketer Bharti Fulmali, who was brought back by the Gujarat Giants via the Right to Match (RTM) card. The auction also saw Mumbai Indians secure the return of New Zealand all-rounder Amelia Kerr, strengthening their squad ahead of the new season.
Speaking on JioHotstar after the auction, Fulmali expressed relief, joy and renewed confidence.
“This will be my proper debut since I earlier played only as Harleen Deol’s injury replacement,” she said. “After going unsold in the last two auctions, this moment feels very special. I was nervous during the bidding, but felt great when Gujarat Giants picked me. I’ve played my last two seasons with them, so I really wanted to return.”
Fulmali admitted the tension rose when Gujarat entered the bidding late. “I was very stressed, but when Mumbai Indians also bid for me, I felt good. Then GG used their RTM card to keep me — that showed their trust and made me feel truly valued.”

She also spoke about sharing the dressing room with star all-rounder Sophie Devine. “When Gujarat signed Sophie Devine in the first round, I was very happy. Playing with a player of her calibre — a T20 World Cup winner — will help me improve. I’m looking forward to a wonderful season with the Giants.”
Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians’ Amelia Kerr said she was thrilled to reunite with the franchise.
“I can’t wait to be back with the Mumbai Indians family. I’ve absolutely loved my last three years here, especially winning two WPL trophies. I’m excited to return and hopefully win more championships with this amazing team,” Kerr said on JioHotstar.
With major stars reaffirming their commitments, WPL Season 4 promises high-intensity competition and renewed rivalries as the countdown to 2026 begins.
