Constable Accused of Rape on Pretext of Marriage; Nursing Student Alleges Police Delaying Action

Lucknow: A nursing student from Lucknow’s Ashiyana area has accused a traffic constable, Mukesh Yadav, of sexually exploiting her for five years under the false promise of marriage. The survivor alleges that despite submitting complaints at both Ashiyana and Sarojininagar police stations, no concrete action has been taken so far.

According to the complainant, she befriended Mukesh Yadav in 2019 through Facebook, and their friendship soon turned into a romantic relationship. She claims that during this period, the constable repeatedly established physical relations with her at a hotel in Transport Nagar, assuring her that he would marry her.

The student further stated that Mukesh Yadav, a native of Sultanpur and currently posted with the Lucknow Traffic Police, had recently fixed his marriage elsewhere. When she confronted him, he allegedly refused to marry her. Following this, she lodged a complaint with the women’s helpline 1090, and later submitted a written complaint at Ashiyana police station along with her family.

However, the student claims that the police are hesitating to act because the accused is a departmental employee. She alleges that she has been sent from one police station to another for days in search of justice.

Ashiyana Inspector Chhatrapal Singh said the incident location falls under the jurisdiction of Sarojininagar police station, and the complainant has been directed there for further action.

The survivor maintains that she is determined to pursue the case and is appealing for strict action against the accused officer.
