Joint Road Safety Enforcement Drive Conducted by Transport Department in Gonda

Gonda: In a major effort to improve road safety and ensure compliance with traffic regulations, the Transport Department conducted a joint road safety and traffic enforcement campaign in Gonda district on Monday. The drive was carried out at Munnan Khan Chauraha under the leadership of ARTO (Administration) R.C. Bhartiya, in coordination with the Traffic Circle Officer (CO Traffic) and Traffic Inspector (TI), Gonda.

The primary objective of the campaign was to prevent road accidents, promote adherence to traffic rules, and raise public awareness about safe driving practices.

Strict Action Against Traffic Violators

During the enforcement drive, officials conducted intensive inspections of vehicles operating without valid driving licences, riders not wearing helmets, and motorists violating other traffic regulations. As a result of the checks, 21 two-wheelers were seized for serious violations, while 168 vehicles were issued challans for breaching various traffic rules.

School Bus and Wedding Vehicles Under Scrutiny

Authorities also inspected vehicles being used for special purposes. During the operation, a school bus transporting passengers for a wedding function was found operating without valid permit and fitness certification. Considering the serious safety violations, the bus was immediately seized.

In addition, four other vehicles being used for wedding-related transportation were fined after officials detected significant lapses in passenger safety standards and regulatory compliance.

Overloading and Dangerous Driving Penalized

The campaign also uncovered a serious case of overloading and reckless driving. A six-seater Bolero vehicle was found carrying nearly 20 passengers while being driven at excessive speed, posing a major threat to public safety.

Officials described the violation as extremely dangerous and ordered the vehicle to be seized at Itiathok Police Station. The administration stated that such negligent and hazardous practices would not be tolerated under any circumstances.

Public Urged to Follow Traffic Rules

The district administration appealed to citizens to strictly follow traffic regulations, wear helmets and seat belts, avoid overloading vehicles, and refrain from dangerous driving practices. Officials emphasized that public cooperation is essential to reducing road accidents and ensuring the safety of all road users.

The Transport Department indicated that similar enforcement and awareness campaigns will continue across the district to strengthen road safety and promote responsible driving behavior.
