Lucknow, Ayodhya, Gorakhpur, and Varanasi Storm into Semifinals

State-Level Coordination Senior Women’s Handball Championship

Lucknow | Host Lucknow division, along with Ayodhya, Gorakhpur, and Varanasi, secured their places in the semifinals of the State-Level Coordination Senior Women’s Handball Championship after showcasing impressive performances on the third day of the tournament.

The event is being organized under the joint aegis of the Directorate of Sports, Uttar Pradesh, and the Uttar Pradesh Handball Association, with the Regional Sports Office, Lucknow, overseeing the competition. Matches are being held at the Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee Multipurpose Hall, KD Singh Babu Stadium.

Lucknow sealed a thrilling 14–12 victory over Azamgarh in the quarterfinals, led by star player Ritu Pal, who scored a remarkable eight goals.

In the evening session, Ayodhya defeated Basti 14–6, with Radha and Savita netting four goals each. Gorakhpur triumphed over Jhansi 8–3, with Priya emerging as the top scorer with three goals, while Varanasi outplayed Vindhyachal 12–2, powered by Kajal’s four goals.

Earlier in the morning league matches, Aligarh beat Kanpur 5–1, Varanasi overpowered Agra 9–2, and Vindhyachal outclassed Bareilly 12–3.

Uttar Pradesh Handball Association’s Executive Secretary Amit Pandey encouraged the players during the quarterfinal matches, lauding their enthusiasm and competitive spirit.
