India-Canada Relations Gain Momentum with Strategic Cooperation in AI, Cybersecurity, and Emerging Technologies

New Delhi – India and Canada are set to strengthen their bilateral relationship through enhanced collaboration in emerging technologies, climate action, education, and global cooperation. During a high-level meeting in New Delhi, Indian External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar and his Canadian counterpart Anita Anand agreed on an ambitious partnership roadmap to deepen ties between the two nations.

The discussions emphasized revitalizing institutional mechanisms to foster cooperation in artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, clean energy, and higher education. Dr. Jaishankar expressed his pleasure on Twitter, stating: “Delighted to welcome Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand to New Delhi today. Productive discussions on reinstating mechanisms to advance our partnership. We have agreed on a shared roadmap reflecting the aspirations of our leaders and the interests of our people.”

Key Areas of Cooperation:

  1. Climate and Clean Energy: Both nations agreed to enhance collaboration in renewable energy, decarbonizing heavy industries, reducing plastic pollution, and safe chemical management.
