Sawaijpur (Hardoi): With the objective of educating sugarcane farmers about modern agricultural technologies and enhancing their income, Dhanuka Agritech Limited organized a farmers’ seminar on “Sugarcane Challenges and the Way Forward” in Hardoi.

Addressing the gathering as the Chief Guest, MLA of Sawayajpur Assembly Constituency, Madhvendra Pratap Singh, said that while the region is blessed with highly fertile soil, true prosperity for farmers can only be achieved through the adoption of modern agricultural technologies, scientific guidance, and high-quality agricultural inputs.

He emphasized that sugarcane is one of the most important cash crops for enhancing farmers’ income. By adopting improved varieties, proper crop management, and scientific farming practices, farmers can significantly increase productivity, strengthen their financial condition, and contribute to the overall development of the region. He added that coordinated efforts among scientists, the agriculture department, sugar mills, and farmers can take sugarcane production to new heights and bring real prosperity to farming communities.

Speaking at the seminar, Dr. R. G. Agarwal, Chairman Emeritus of Dhanuka Agritech Limited, said that meaningful transformation in Indian agriculture is possible only when farmers move hand in hand with science. He highlighted that the use of organic matter to improve soil fertility, adoption of drip and sprinkler irrigation systems for water conservation, selection of high-quality seeds, and crop diversification are the key pillars of sustainable and profitable farming.

He further stated that in water-intensive crops such as sugarcane, the adoption of drip irrigation and modern biological technologies can lead to substantial increases in productivity. By embracing scientific farming practices, farmers can not only increase their income but also conserve natural resources and contribute significantly to the vision of a developed India.

Dr. Agarwal noted that Dhanuka Agritech Limited has consistently remained at the forefront of providing innovative agricultural solutions and services to farmers. Under the Dhanuka Initiative, drone spraying services are also being made available to farmers. These services are particularly beneficial for sugarcane cultivation, as the crop becomes extremely dense and tall after a certain stage, making manual spraying difficult and less effective.

During the seminar, agricultural scientists, senior government officials, and experts from Chandra Shekhar Azad University of Agriculture and Technology and Indian Institute of Sugarcane Research shared insights on the selection of improved sugarcane varieties, scientific planting techniques, efficient nutrient and water management, protection against pests and diseases, measures to improve cane quality, and timely harvesting practices.

More than 400 sugarcane farmers from the region participated in the seminar.
