Lucknow: Max Super Speciality Hospital, Lucknow, hosted a Heart Health Carnival on its premises, drawing over 1,000 participants from across the community. The event aimed to raise awareness about cardiovascular health and promote proactive heart care practices.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Nakul Sinha, Chairman of Cardiology at Max Super Speciality Hospital, highlighted the growing prevalence of heart disease among all age groups. “Heart conditions are no longer limited to the elderly. With rising risk factors such as diabetes, high blood pressure, elevated cholesterol, smoking, and sedentary lifestyles, heart attacks and related complications are increasingly affecting adolescents and young adults,” he said. Dr. Sinha also emphasized that reduced heart pumping efficiency, combined with lifestyle-related health issues, can lead to heart failure even in individuals with preserved heart function.
Dr. Ambukeshwar Singh, Associate Director and Unit Head of Interventional Cardiology, informed attendees about silent heart attacks, noting that 5–10% of heart attacks—particularly among diabetics—can occur without the usual warning signs like chest pain or shortness of breath.
Adding another dimension, Prof. Dr. D. Prabhakaran, Executive Director of the Centre for Chronic Disease Control (CCDC), pointed out the impact of environmental factors on cardiovascular health. “Air pollution alone accounts for 1.27 million deaths annually in India, half of which are related to heart disease. Urbanization, malnutrition, genetics, and lifestyle habits further contribute to this growing burden,” he explained.

The carnival featured interactive activities, including a Zumba session, a skit on heart health, a balloon lift ceremony, and free health check-ups. Health stalls provided guidance on heart-healthy nutrition and lifestyle practices.
The event successfully combined education with entertainment, engaging participants in meaningful discussions on heart care while reinforcing Max Super Speciality H
