Prasad quality control increasingly evident in temples

Ayodhya: An alert has been seen in the temples of Uttar Pradesh after the alleged adulteration in the Laddu Prasadam of Tirupati temple came to light. Changes are also being made in the Prasad system and rules of the big temples of Ayodhya, Prayagraj and Mathura. The chief priest of Ayodhya temple demanded a ban on taking Prasad from outside agencies. Mathura temple decided to adopt fruits and flowers instead of sweets. The rules of Prasad also changed in three big temples of Prayagraj.

Prasad should be prepared under the supervision of priests: Satyendra Das

Satyendra Das, the chief priest of Ram Janmabhoomi temple in Ayodhya, demanded a complete ban on Prasad prepared by outside agencies. He expressed concern over the purity of the ghee used in the temple’s Prasad and urged that all Prasad should be prepared under the supervision of temple priests.

Satyendra Das has stressed the need for a thorough investigation of the quality of oil and ghee sold across the country. He said, the controversy over the alleged use of fat and fish oil in Tirupati Balaji’s Prasad is growing across the country. He alleged that there is an international conspiracy to desecrate temples by adding inappropriate substances to the prasad.

Now fruits and flowers will be offered in Mathura

Meanwhile, Dharma Raksha Sangh in Mathura announced its decision to return to the ancient style of ‘prasadam’ recipes. That is, now instead of sweets, prasad made from fruits, flowers and other natural ingredients will be included.

National President of Dharma Raksha Sangh Saurabh Gaur stressed the need for significant reforms in the prasadam system and said, there has been a consensus among religious leaders and organizations to return to the traditional practices of offering and accepting pure, satvik prasadam.

What changes in Prayagraj?

At the same time, many temples including Alop Shankari Devi, Bade Hanuman and Mankameshwar in ‘Sangam Nagri’ Prayagraj have banned devotees from bringing sweets and other items prepared from outside as Prasad.

Dry fruits and fruits in Lalita Devi temple

Chief priest of Lalita Devi temple Shiv Murat Mishra said that the management has decided to request the devotees to bring only coconut, fruits and dry fruits.

Mahant Sridharanand Brahmachari Ji Maharaj of Mankameshwar temple said that until the purity of the sweets is clear in the investigation, they will not be allowed to be offered in the temple.

Management of Bade Hanuman temple will prepare prasad itself

Mahant Balbir Giri Ji Maharaj, patron of Bade Hanuman temple located on Sangam bank and head of Shrimath Baghambari Gaddi, said, after the construction of the corridor is completed, the temple management itself will prepare ‘laddu-peda’ prasad for Shri Bade Hanuman temple.

Devotees will be able to offer homemade prasad in Lucknow

On Monday, Lucknow’s famous Mankameshwar temple also banned devotees from buying prasad from outside. The temple says that devotees can now offer homemade ‘prasad’ or fruits. The temple management said that we are also taking steps to ensure the purity of the prasad given outside. Along with this, we are also planning to do quality checks and possibly make our own prasad.
