Grant of Rs 57.38 lakh approved to state universities for research work

Lucknow: The Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh has approved financial assistance of Rs 57.38 lakh for research work under the Research and Development (R&D) scheme to the teachers of state universities of the state. This grant has been provided with the aim of improving the quality of research work in higher education institutions of the state and encouraging innovation.

Higher Education Minister Yogendra Upadhyay said that research and research are the pillars of education and this step of the state government is an important effort to accelerate research and innovation in the universities of the state. This will not only infuse new energy towards research in our educational institutions, but it is also an important step towards providing world-class research environment to the students.

He informed that this grant is being distributed on the basis of the recommendations of the Expert Committee constituted by the Uttar Pradesh State Higher Education Council, Lucknow. The committee conducted a detailed examination of the proposals submitted by various universities under the Research and Development Scheme. This grant has been approved by the Governor after due consideration of the recommendations of the Expert Committee.

The universities that have received the grant include Lucknow University, Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University (Bareilly), Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapeeth (Varanasi), Veer Bahadur Singh Purvanchal University (Jaunpur) and Siddharth University (Kapilvastu, Siddharth Nagar). A total amount of Rs 57,38,800 has been approved under this scheme for the financial year 2024-25, which will be distributed subject to the prescribed conditions and restrictions.

He said that this grant will prove to be a milestone in the higher education of the state. Our goal is to make Uttar Pradesh the leading research center of the country, and this grant is an important step in that direction. The government will continue to provide all possible support to the universities of the state so that they can perform best in research and innovation.
