Prayagraj: In view of the continuous surge in crowd at Mahakumbh, the Road Transport Corporation will operate 2,250 additional buses from February 15 to 17. The administration anticipates a large number of devotees arriving in Prayagraj for the Sangam Snan on Saturday and Sunday.
Considering the increasing footfall, Minister of State for Transport (Independent Charge) Dayashankar Singh has directed the arrangement of additional buses. He also instructed officials to be deployed at various temporary bus stations in Prayagraj to ensure smooth operations.
Special plans have been formulated to manage bus services effectively during holidays. Nodal officers have been assigned to oversee all arrangements, and accountability will be determined in case of any grievances.
Free Shuttle Bus Service for Pilgrims
On Thursday, a free shuttle bus service was made available for devotees, operating across 13 routes in the city. Over one lakh people availed of this service. During the Maghi Purnima Snan festival, approximately 3.5 lakh people traveled in these free shuttle buses over two days.
Improved Traffic Management Ensures Smooth Access to Sangam
With a massive influx of pilgrims for the Magh Purnima Snan at Mahakumbh 2025, the city’s traffic management has significantly improved. Although queues of vehicles are still seen at the fair’s entry points, the extensive arrangements made by the administration are yielding positive results.
Pilgrims are benefiting from hassle-free travel and a secure bathing experience at Sangam. According to Kumbh Police, traffic is flowing smoothly on key routes, including Malak Harhar (Lucknow), Mirzapur Road, Rewa Road, Sahason (Jaunpur), Phaphamau (Lucknow), Andawa (Varanasi route), and Kaushambi route. In light of Mahakumbh, security forces and traffic police have been deployed at all major routes to ensure seamless movement.
