Gonda: A series of environmental and administrative initiatives were undertaken in Gonda district on the occasion of World Environment Day. District In-charge Minister Ashish Patel led a tree plantation drive and chaired a comprehensive departmental review meeting aimed at strengthening governance and public welfare initiatives.
The plantation programme was organized at Padri Parasarai Tirremanorama village, where the Minister planted saplings along with District Magistrate Priyanka Niranjan, Chief Development Officer Dayanand Prasad, MP representative Ramashankar Mishra, Ittiyathok Block Pramukh Poonam Dwivedi, and BJP District President Akbal Bahadur Tiwari.
As part of the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign, saplings were distributed among villagers and women, encouraging them to actively participate in environmental conservation. Addressing the gathering, the Minister emphasized that environmental protection is one of the most pressing needs of the present time and called upon citizens to plant and nurture more trees.
Later, a departmental review meeting was held at the Zila Panchayat Auditorium under the Minister’s chairmanship. The meeting was attended by Zila Panchayat Chairman Ghanshyam Mishra, Katra Bazar MLA Bawan Singh, Tarabganj MLA Prem Narayan Pandey, Gaura MLA Prabhat Verma, MP representatives, and other public representatives.
The progress of key departments, including Power, Public Works, Jal Nigam, Panchayati Raj, Health, Social Welfare, MGNREGA, Divyangjan Empowerment, Education, Agriculture, Tourism, Horticulture, Industry, Revenue, and Police, was reviewed in detail.

During the review of the Power Department, Executive Engineer (Electricity), Mankapur, Kamar Farooq was found absent without prior information. Expressing strong displeasure, Minister Ashish Patel directed officials to withhold his salary. He also instructed power department officials to strengthen electricity supply systems and ensure timely and quality resolution of public grievances.
Reviewing Public Works Department projects, the Minister directed that foundation stone-laying and inauguration ceremonies for roads and other development works should be conducted with the participation of the concerned public representatives. He further instructed all departments to regularly share information regarding schemes, projects, and development activities with elected representatives.
Concluding the meeting, the Minister directed officials to work in accordance with the government’s priorities and ensure effective implementation of public welfare schemes. He stressed the importance of accountability, coordination, and timely delivery of services to citizens.
Senior district officials, including Superintendent of Police Vineet Jaiswal, Additional District Magistrate Alok Kumar, Chief Revenue Officer Rinki Jaiswal, City Magistrate Pankaj Verma, SDM Sadar Jitendra Gautam, Project Director DRDA Sushil Kumar Pandey, District Panchayat Raj Officer Lalji Dubey, and other departmental heads, were present during the meeting.
