Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh is set to take another major step towards building one of India’s largest integrated expressway networks with the proposed Purvanchal–Mirzapur–Ghazipur Link Expressway, a strategic corridor that will connect the Purvanchal Expressway with the upcoming Vindhya Expressway and significantly improve connectivity across eastern Uttar Pradesh.
According to officials, the Detailed Project Report (DPR) is in its final stage and is expected to be placed before the Uttar Pradesh Cabinet for approval before construction begins. Once completed, the expressway will establish a seamless high-speed transport corridor linking eastern, central and southern parts of the state.
The proposed corridor will extend from the Purvanchal Expressway near Ghazipur to Mirzapur, where it will merge with the planned Vindhya Expressway. The integration will enable uninterrupted travel across several of Uttar Pradesh’s major expressways, including the Purvanchal, Vindhya, Ganga, Bundelkhand, Agra–Lucknow and Gorakhpur Link expressways.
Infrastructure planners believe the project will dramatically reduce travel time while creating a more efficient road transport system for both passenger vehicles and commercial freight.
The expressway is also expected to play a key role in connecting the Vindhya region with eastern Uttar Pradesh. Cities including Prayagraj, Mirzapur, Varanasi, Chandauli, Sonbhadra and Ghazipur will benefit from improved road access, strengthening regional integration and facilitating faster movement of goods and people.

Industry experts say the new corridor will enhance logistics efficiency by providing direct high-speed connectivity for freight transport. Lower transportation costs are expected to improve supply chains, support industrial expansion and boost trade across eastern Uttar Pradesh and neighbouring states. The improved connectivity is also likely to encourage investments in industrial clusters, logistics parks and warehousing facilities along the expressway network.
The project forms part of the Uttar Pradesh government’s broader infrastructure strategy aimed at creating an interconnected expressway grid spanning every region of the state. Alongside the eastern corridor, the government is also advancing plans for the proposed Meerut–Haridwar Expressway, which will strengthen connectivity between western Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand while supporting tourism, pilgrimage and commerce.
With multiple expressways already operational and several others under construction, Uttar Pradesh is rapidly emerging as one of India’s leading states in road infrastructure development. The integrated network is expected to reduce travel time, improve logistics efficiency, attract industrial investment, generate employment and promote balanced regional development.
The proposed Purvanchal–Mirzapur–Ghazipur Link Expressway is also expected to improve access to industrial hubs, logistics parks, airports and major religious destinations, providing long-term benefits for both commuters and businesses.
Officials indicated that once the DPR receives Cabinet approval, the project will move into the execution phase. The corridor is being viewed as another milestone in Uttar Pradesh’s ambitious infrastructure expansion, reinforcing the state’s vision of creating a modern, high-speed transport network that supports sustained economic growth, industrialisation and regional connectivity.
