Indian Cricket team

New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is looking for a new head coach for the men’s cricket team (Team India) as the tenure of Rahul Dravid will end after the conclusion of the T20 World Cup 2024 and if they want to continue, they have to see this. for the position.  Dravid has so far refused the position. Gautam Gambhir is another clear favourite in cricket circles.

Even though South Africa, Pakistan and England share their coaching responsibilities between red-ball and white-ball cricket, the BCCI is still unwilling to adopt a uniform strategy as India does not have two separate player pools for both the formats.  BCCI has also approached former Indian players for the post but they will have to fill the application form to remain in the race.

VVS Laxman is in no mood to apply

Initial speculations were that VVS Laxman would replace Dravid in the role, which he had performed on a part-time basis in Dravid’s absence last year. However, sources confirmed that Laxman is in no mood to apply and he will remain with the India ‘A’ team. The tenure of the new head coach will be three and a half years. Amidst all this a big information has come to light. The names of two such veterans have come to light, whom BCCI is considering to make the head coach.

These two legends are in the race to become the new head coach of Team India.

If sources are to be believed, Chennai Super Kings coach Stephen Fleming and Delhi Capitals coach Ricky Ponting are being considered as big contenders to become the new head coach of Team India. The BCCI has informally approached Ricky Ponting and Stephen Fleming for the next Indian head coach position. However, the reaction from both these giants has not been very positive.

Ricky Ponting is the head coach of Delhi Capitals since 2018. Meanwhile, Stephen Fleming has been working with Chennai Super Kings since 2009. In such a situation, it is being said that both these legends are currently on the radar of BCCI. Apart from this, other star veterans including Gautam Gambhir and Ashish Nehra are also in the race for the post of head coach.

BCCI may also consider Gautam Gambhir

BCCI can also consider Gautam Gambhir. Who returned to his old franchise Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) after a two-year stint at Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and has played a key role in taking the team to consecutive playoff appearances. Apart from this, Gujarat Titans head coach Nehra has also earlier shown interest in guiding the Indian team.
