Prof. Alok Dhawan: La Martiniere Alumnus Among World’s Top 2% Scientists for Sixth Consecutive Year

Lucknow: Bringing pride to his alma mater and the scientific community, Prof. Alok Dhawan, an alumnus of La Martiniere College, Lucknow, from the Batch of 1982, has once again been ranked among the world’s top 2% scientists in the prestigious Stanford University global ranking. The recognition, which he has received for the sixth consecutive year, underscores his sustained contribution to scientific research and his standing in the international research community.

Prof. Dhawan has built a distinguished career at the intersection of biomedical sciences, toxicology and emerging technologies. Widely regarded as a pioneer of nanomaterial toxicology in India, he has played an important role in advancing scientific understanding of the potential health implications of nanomaterials and the importance of evaluating their safety. His work reflects the growing significance of toxicological research as nanotechnology finds applications across healthcare, industry and other scientific fields.

Over the years, Prof. Dhawan has held several prominent leadership positions in India’s scientific research ecosystem. He previously served as Director of the Centre of Biomedical Research (CBMR), Lucknow, and as Director of the CSIR-Indian Institute of Toxicology Research (CSIR-IITR), one of the country’s established institutions in toxicological research. His leadership roles brought together scientific inquiry, institutional development and the broader objective of strengthening research capabilities in India.

He currently serves as Chief Operating Officer and Executive Director of SS Medical Systems India Pvt. Ltd., extending his professional engagement into the medical technology sector.
