Budget dedicated to the poor, youth, farmers, and women, says Deputy CM
Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Leader of the House in the Legislative Council, Keshav Prasad Maurya, briefed the media on the state’s Supplementary Budget for financial year 2026-27, describing it as a reflection of the hopes, aspirations, and expectations of the state’s 25 crore residents. He said the budget is aimed at the state’s all-round development and lays a strong foundation for a self-reliant Uttar Pradesh.
Maurya said the budget sets aside ₹17,942.73 crore for rural development, a provision he said would play a key role in bringing positive change to the lives of villagers, the poor, and farmers, while further accelerating the pace of development in rural areas.
He said the Supplementary Budget would give fresh momentum to development, job creation, and economic activity across the state, helping push forward various ongoing schemes and development projects while paving the way for new welfare initiatives to be rolled out effectively.
According to Maurya, the budget lays the groundwork for comprehensive development and self-reliance, and its provisions will help drive the state’s growth forward at a faster pace. He described it as inclusive and wide-reaching, with the needs and interests of every section of society taken into account.
The Deputy Chief Minister added that the budget is dedicated to the poor, the youth, farmers, and women. Along with provisions for the development of villages and the underprivileged, it includes measures aimed at promoting women’s empowerment. He said this would strengthen the rural economy, create new employment and self-employment opportunities for young people, and further boost women’s economic and social participation.
Maurya also linked the budget to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a developed India, saying Uttar Pradesh has an important role to play in realising that goal. He said the development-oriented and welfare-focused provisions in the Supplementary Budget reflect this vision, and that the budget would help move the state toward greater self-reliance, prosperity, and growth, contributing significantly to building a developed Uttar Pradesh.
