New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has fined Royal Challengers Bengaluru captain Faf du Plessis and Punjab Kings’ stand-in skipper Sam Curran for violating the league’s code of conduct.
The IPL confirmed that Curran acknowledged committing the offence and accepted the match referee’s sanction, as outlined in Article 2.8 of the IPL Code of Conduct. This portion of the code covers excessive displays of disappointment with an umpire’s decision, apparent delays in resuming play, shaking the head, or gesturing at the inside edge when given out LBW.
“Curran was found to have committed a Level 1 offense under Article 2.8 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct. He accepted the disciplinary action handed down by the Match Referee. For Level 1 code breaches, the Referee’s decision is final and binding.” said an official statement by the IPL.
On Sunday, Du Plessis, RCB’s captain, was fined for his team’s slow over-rate during their one-run loss against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens. This was RCB’s first over-rate offence this season.
“Faf du Plessis, the captain of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, was fined after his team maintained a slow over rate during their match against the Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens on April 21, 2024.” said in a statement released by IPL.
