Secures 801–850 band in Asia, ranks 124th nationally and 247th in South Asia; overall score rises to 22.6
Lucknow: Lucknow University has strengthened its position on the international academic landscape with an improved performance in the QS Asia University Rankings 2027, released by global ranking agency Quacquarelli Symonds (QS).
The university has been placed in the 801–850 band in Asia, securing 124th position nationally and 247th in South Asia. A significant achievement is that it has outperformed 50.8 per cent of the ranked institutions across Asia, compared to 48.6 per cent in the previous edition.
Despite increasing global competition and the inclusion of new institutions, Lucknow University’s overall QS score has improved from 20.9 in 2026 to 22.6 in 2027. The progress is particularly notable when compared with its score of just 5.2 in 2023.
The university has recorded a score of 83.0 in the indicator for academic staff holding PhD degrees. It also secured 55.0 in International Research Network and 55.2 in International Student Ratio.
According to the QS fact file, the university has contributed 26,581 research papers and received 29,159 citations, reflecting its growing research output and academic engagement.
Vice-Chancellor Professor J.P. Saini attributed the achievement to the visionary leadership, continued encouragement and guidance of the Chancellor and Uttar Pradesh Governor. He said the university’s steady improvement reflected the collective efforts of its faculty members, researchers, students, alumni and administrative staff.
Saini added that the institution remained committed to strengthening quality education, transparent research practices and academic standards aligned with global benchmarks.
The university administration has reiterated its focus on research excellence, innovation, international academic collaborations and improved student outcomes to further enhance its performance in global rankings.
