Mumbai: Former India coach Ravi Shastri has shared his belief that Virat Kohli has at least three to four more years of cricket left in him, despite his recent struggles in the conventional format. Kohli has faced inconsistency during the ongoing five-test series against Australia, even though he did score a century in the Perth Test. His performance has included scores of 5, 100*, 7, 11, 3, 36, and 5.
On the other hand, Rohit Sharma is also under scrutiny for his poor performances. He has managed only 31 runs in five innings with an average of just 6.20, the lowest by any touring captain in Australian history. Shastri has highlighted technical issues with Rohit’s batting, particularly regarding his front-foot movement. Shastri noted that Rohit’s footwork seems delayed, with his front foot not aligning with the ball’s direction, which is causing issues at the crease.
Shastri believes Kohli will continue to be a force in international cricket, but for Rohit, the decision about his future in the format may come down to his performance at the conclusion of this series. The ball is in Rohit’s court, and Shastri feels that it’s his decision whether to continue or not.
