Lucknow: Under the ongoing Mission Shakti 5.0 अभियान, the Aliganj police team in Lucknow organized a comprehensive awareness programme in the Puraniya area, focusing on women’s safety, cyber awareness, and child protection.
The initiative, carried out under the guidance of Police Commissioner Amrendra Kumar Sengar, aimed to educate women and children about their rights, safety mechanisms, and the importance of vigilance in both physical and digital spaces. The programme reflects the broader objective of Mission Shakti—ensuring “security, awareness, and empowerment” through community policing.
During the session, police officials interacted with around 20–30 women and girls, providing detailed information on key helpline numbers including 1090 (Women Power Line), 181 (Women Helpline), 1098 (Childline), 112 (Emergency Response Support System), and 1930 (Cyber Crime Helpline). Participants were also introduced to the UP COP app and other emergency services to ensure quick access to assistance.
A special session was conducted for children on the concept of “good touch and bad touch,” aimed at building awareness and confidence among young participants. Police personnel emphasized the importance of speaking up and reporting any form of abuse or discomfort.
The programme also included an in-depth discussion on cyber safety. Topics covered included safe internet usage, protection against cyberbullying and online harassment, safeguarding personal data, identifying cyber frauds such as phishing, and understanding digital footprints.
Officials highlighted that such awareness drives play a crucial role in shaping responsible digital citizens while empowering individuals with the knowledge and confidence to protect themselves. The initiative also reinforces the police department’s commitment to creating a safe, informed, and self-reliant society.
The event was conducted by Sub-Inspector Ravindra Nath Prajapati along with other officers including women police personnel from Aliganj police station. Authorities reiterated that Mission Shakti centres have been established across multiple police stations in Lucknow to ensure prompt redressal of women-related issues.
Police officials stated that similar awareness programmes will continue to be conducted across the city to strengthen community engagement and promote safety awareness at the grassroots level.
