Lucknow — Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati on Monday accused rival political parties of conspiring to weaken the BSP, asserting firmly that personal relations will never interfere with party interests during her lifetime.
In a strong statement aimed at quashing speculation and affirming her commitment to the party’s ideals, Mayawati said, “As long as I am alive, I will never allow the party to weaken for personal or familial gains. My brothers, sisters, and other relatives are merely part of the Bahujan Samaj for me and nothing more. Anyone from the Bahujan Samaj who works with complete honesty and dedication for the party and movement will certainly be given opportunities to grow, but no familial ties will ever influence this.”
Opposition Conspiracy to Weaken BSP
The BSP chief alleged that for several years, all casteist, communal, and capitalist parties—both in power and in opposition—have secretly colluded to weaken the BSP. “These parties have not been able to digest the fact that in 2007, BSP formed a full-majority government in UP on its own. Since then, they have been relentlessly using various tactics to try to undermine and eliminate the BSP, especially the anti-Dalit elements among them,” she stated.
Major Social Change Since 2007
Mayawati emphasized the socio-political transformation that occurred during her tenure. “It is widely known that before 2007, Dalits and other marginalized communities in UP could neither sit on cots nor dare to sit on chairs at par with the upper castes. But after BSP’s full-majority government came to power in 2007, much of that has changed,” she said, underscoring the BSP’s role in empowering the oppressed sections of society.
Criticism of PM and Call for Rethink on Waqf Bill
Taking a veiled dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Mayawati remarked, “While the Prime Minister often refers to his own poverty, he has never faced caste discrimination like that endured by our saints, gurus, and great leaders, or what their followers still endure today.”
Commenting on the ongoing controversy over the Waqf Bill, she noted that the politics being played by both the ruling and opposition parties during the current Parliament session is concerning. “This issue should have been resolved with mutual agreement in a timely manner. The central government must reconsider its approach on this matter,” she added.
Mayawati’s remarks reaffirm her leadership stance and send a clear message that the BSP will continue to focus on the upliftment of marginalized communities, free from nepotism, while resisting political pressures and conspiracies aimed at its decline.
