Lucknow: In the 26th match of IPL, Delhi Capitals (DC) defeated Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by six wickets on the basis of a brilliant half-century by Fraser McGurk (55 runs in 35 balls) after Kuldeep Yadav’s three wickets for 20 runs. In this match played at Ekana Stadium in Lucknow on Friday, after winning the toss and batting first, Lucknow scored 167 runs for seven wickets in 20 overs. In reply, Delhi won easily by scoring 170 runs for four wickets in 18.1 overs. Tristan Stubbs gave the team victory by hitting a six on the first ball of Arshad Khan’s 19th over.

LSG vs DC Scorecard: Pant played captaincy innings

For Delhi (Delhi Capitals), Rishabh Pant played a brilliant inning of 41 runs in 24 balls and made the highest partnership of 77 runs in 46 balls with McGurk for the third wicket. Opener Prithvi Shaw scored 32 runs in 22 balls. For Lucknow (Lucknow Super Giants), Ravi Bishnoi took the wickets of Pant and Shaw. McGurk was caught by Arshad Khan at the hands of Naveen-ul-Haq. The wicket of David Warner (8) came in the account of Yash Thakur.

Lucknow batsmen trapped in Kuldeep Yadav’s trap

Earlier, Delhi bowlers did not give Lucknow batsmen a chance to open their hands in the beginning. Kuldeep Yadav gave only 20 runs in his quota of four overs and dismissed three of the top-5 players of Lucknow. He forced Marcus Stoinis to play a wrong sweep shot in his very first over. The ball rose high in the air and Ishant Sharma took an easy catch. After this, he showed the way to the pavilion by bowling Nicholas Pooran for a golden duck.

Ayush Badoni’s innings went in vain

KL Rahul (39 runs in 22 balls) became his third victim and Pant caught him behind the wicket. At one time, seven players of Lucknow were out for 94 runs in 13 overs. But after this, the team could reach 167 runs on the basis of unbeaten partnership of 73 runs on 42 balls between Ayush Badoni (55 not out on 35 balls) and Arshad Khan (20 runs on 16 balls). For Delhi, Khalil Ahmed took two wickets and Ishant Sharma and Mukesh Kumar took one wicket each.

Delhi broke Lucknow’s grand record

Lucknow Super Giants had earlier defended the score of 160+ runs in 13 matches. But even after scoring 167 runs, Lucknow team could not defend its target this time. With this, Delhi Capitals team has broken this amazing record of Lucknow and defeated them at home.
