Lucknow: In a shocking development, Lucknow Police have uncovered a robbery syndicate allegedly led by a serving Uttar Pradesh Police constable. Four accused, including Constable Purn Singh, have been arrested in connection with a ₹5 lakh robbery case, while police have recovered ₹1.25 lakh in cash and two vehicles used in the crime.
According to police officials, the gang lured victims with promises of doubling their investment within a short period. Once the victims arrived at a designated location, they were allegedly intimidated using the names of police and government agencies before being robbed.
The case came to light after a complaint was filed at Chinhat Police Station by Prabhakar Singh, a resident of Telibagh. He alleged that his brother and a friend were called for an investment deal and subsequently became victims of fraud and robbery.
Following an investigation by the Chinhat Police and the East Zone Surveillance Team, four suspects—Javed Hussain, Asif, Pravesh Tripathi, and Constable Purn Singh—were arrested near Hardasi Kheda canal bridge.

Police said preliminary findings indicate that Purn Singh played a key role in planning the operation. Investigators also revealed that after the complaint was lodged, members of the gang attempted to return part of the stolen money to suppress the case.
Authorities are now probing whether the accused were involved in similar crimes elsewhere. Further investigation is underway to determine the full extent of the syndicate’s activities.
